Law Protected Punishment Psychiatry
Magilyou activist Kristina Shatikava was refused of bringing the lawsuit concerning her detainment and hospitalization. In the notice received by K.Shatikava by mail it is said that the public prosecutor’s office of the Leninsky district of Magilyou investigated the claim and found out that the officials of the Magilyou regional psycho-hospital as well as the staff of the department for internal affairs of the Magilyou regional executive committee who had detained K.Shatikava and brought her to the hospital did not go beyond the law “On militia” and the law ”On psychiatric medical assistance and non-violation of civil rights while its rendering”.
“It became known, K.Shatikava informed the BelaPAN, that 4 people from my block of flats at 63 Pushkin Avenue had written a group claim that I suffer psycho-disease, threaten my neighbors and complain of their intention to poison me. On this ground 26 March I was detained. The psychiatric medical commission who examined me made the conclusion that I did not need any hospitalization and forced treatment. Then I was discharged”.
K.Shatikava reported that after consulting the lawyer she decided to lodge a claim to the court. “I will keep struggling. For me the reason of my detainment and refusal of bringing the lawsuit was a shock”, the activist, mother of two minors, declared.
23 March K.Shatikava was kidnapped by strangers who were, as it became known afterwards, the militiamen of the special emergency regiment of the Magilyou regional executive committee near the “Passat” cafe. They brought the woman to the psycho-hospital where she had been kept by force for three days”.
