Criminal Action against Dzyanis Dzyanisau Closed

This fact has been announced by the lawyer of the young activist Pyotr Kavalenka. A criminal action was initiated against Dzyanis Dzyanisau and Tatsyana Elavaya for holding a number of protest rallies in Vitsebsk. They were charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (organization of actions which violate public order and counteraction to the authorities). Under this article the guy faces a three-year imprisonment.

Dzyanisau was detained on February 16 in a train to Homel. First the activist was kept in Homel remand prison, then taken to Vitsebsk remand prison No.2, Nasha Niva informs.

On April 11 Dzyanisau was released on a bail. Relatives of Dzyanis transferred BYR 15.5 mln (almost $7,000) to the account of Belarusbank.

This sum had been collected by the Belarusian community. More than 100 persons have made donations.
