Demonstration in support of Ivan Shyla to take place in the US

A demonstration in support of Ivan Shyla, a Young Front member, will be held in New York on June 29. On June 4 Ivan Shyla was illegally expelled from Salihorsk secondary school No. 4 the day before his last exam.
The Belarusian Youth movement of the US is the initiator of the rally which is to be held in front of the UN headquarters. In their address to expat Belarusians and “friends of Belarus in the world”, the organisation appeals to “condemn the illegal decision and to influence this situation by all available means,” the BelaPAN informs.
The US Belarusians demand to reinstate Ivan Shyla and the dismissed teachers at school.
As we have informed, one of the leaders of the Young Front Ivan Shyla was expelled for his “active public work” a day before his last exam (English). Earlier the teacher’s council allowed the young activist to sit for the exam, but due to pressure of Minsk officials during a repeat voting the teachers’ council adopted a decision to expel him. Headmaster Volha Syankova has written a letter of resignation from her position due to a desire to terminate her employment. He assistant for educational work Alena Semchankava was fired “for unsatisfactory educational work”.
