More than 400 participants take part in rally near court of Savetski district

More than 400 persons have come to the court of Savetski district of Minsk today to express their protest against the trial over the members of the Young Front. People chant oppositional slogans, hold portraits of defendants, streamers “Freedom to Young Front activists!”, “We demand just trial!”, “Where is truth?”, “Let’s defend children from violence!”

The building of the court has been cordoned off by riot policemen. They prevent activists from holding the protest near the windows of the court where the case of the “Young Front” is considered.

Lawyers, foreign diplomats, journalists have been allowed to enter the court room. The leader of the movement “For Freedom!” Alyaksandr Milinkevich has managed to enter the court room as well.

The criminal action against Zmitser Khvedaruk (Fedaruk), Barys Haretski, Aleh Korban, Alyaksei Yanusheuski and Nasta Palazhanka has been opened for activities on behalf of an unregistered organization on charges related Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus.

The youth movement had made 4 attempts to register, but was denied every time. Last time the Judicial department of Minsk city executive committee referred to inconreguity in the statute and denied the Young Front state registration in the run-up to the court trial.
