Zmiter Dashkevich at large

Zmiter Dashkevich has been from the Shklou colony today. According to Zmiter, the news about his release came as a surprise for him. Allegedly, an order came out that a term of punishment (1.5 year) was reduced to 1 year, thus Zmiter served 4 months more than he was due, nn.by reports. It should be reminded that Zmiter Dashkevich was sentenced to 1.5 year of prison for participation in the unregistered organisation in November, 2006 (he was in a remand jail since September, 2006).
As Vyachaslau Dashkevich, Zmiter’s father, said to “Nasha Niva” he sent a parcel to his son ten days ago. But it was sent back with no explanations two days ago. The parents took it as bureaucratic obstacles, not as a sign of early release.
“When we visited pour son in the colony, he gave us two big bags with letters. He didn’t think he would be released, he waited for something bad. Zmiter was sure he would spend much time in prison. We didn’t expect he would be with us soon,” his father says.
Zmiter’s mother cries for joy, though she is worrying about how her son can reach home. “Thanks to God and all people, who supported us. Everything will be all right, I know it. I wish he would get home as soon as possible.”
The parents say they read through correspondence of their son, and saw many letters from different countries and different Belarusian cities. They thank sincerely all people who helped Zmiter in that hard time.
